Starting at College Level Can Create All Kinds of Long-term Opportunities
In my work I get to speak to a lot of young people looking to make that move to the US. They’re seeking to actually start their life here but have really very little to launch themselves with. What do I mean exactly? Most people under say 26 years old have not amassed much personal wealth neither do they have a tremendous amount of work experience, but the one thing they have on their side is youth and plenty of it. So thinking about coming to America to start your life here and taking a community college on an F1 Student visa is actually a great idea even if you have a degree already.
I’ve put together some articles for you and will be adding more over time that pretty much talk about the various issues and advantages of starting your American adventure in the class room.
I also have to say that for those over 26 years old who have personal wealth, perhaps even a house in their home country, but no US job offer, starting out as a student is a good move, even being in your 50’s is not out of the question. Once a student has completed their first year in school they can apply for a work permit to support themselves while they continue their education. Once they leave college their work permit can be extended for a further year to help them find a more permanent job that could lead to other visa opportunities, perhaps even green card sponsorship.
There are many successful aliens in the US today that started out as students and simply and literally worked their way up the immigration ladder to become US citizens. It’s a long haul, but an incredible adventure at the same time. A good friend and client of mine, Paul once said to me “leap and the net will appear”.
I hope you enjoy these articles and the other information we have provided regarding the many US visa options that may be open to you.
