Registered Nurses Guide

"Let’s talk about Registered Nurses and why are they treated like superstars?"

Nurses In Demand: In America, it is very expensive to train as a nurse and unless one is particularly vocationally driven many students choose alternative careers. As a result there is a large labor deficit in the available of nurses. Hospitals all over America are engaged in a global search to recruit nurses for vacant positions in the US. If you’re reading this and you are an RN nurse and you have been considering a fresh start in the US then you are about 80% there.

Government Intervention: The US government in a desperate act to attract nurses, have virtually placed qualified nurses on the same immigration footing priority as nationally acclaimed professors, international business executives and high profile celebrities. In other words, not only has the government set aside a certain number of visas exclusively for qualified nurses, but nurses are one of the very rare class of immigrants who can obtain green card status, with an interim work permit in a matter of months. Normally, unless you married a US Citizen, it can takes years to work your way up to green card status.

Qualifications Required: The standard of RN nurses around the world can vary from country to country, therefore it is not enough to simply have the RN qualification to practice in the US. There are two main unifying qualifications that if passed will enable you to practice in the US.

NCLEX-RN and CGFNS: The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (NCLEX) is one of two exams that must be passed in order to practice. The good news is that this exam can be taken in London. The alternative exam is the Commission for Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS), this must be taken in the US so it is less popular.

Recruitment And Placement Services: We work with both recruitment and placement agencies who will help you through taking the exam and finding suitable employment in the state of your choice. Our job is to simply take care of all the immigration paperwork so that you and your family can get settled in as quickly as possible.

Fees: In most cases, the hospital hiring the nurse will pick up the tab for the recruitment, placement and immigration costs for the qualified nurse. All you have to do is pass the NCLEX exam and you’ve pretty much bought yourself a green card.
