O*Net Informational Occupational Network
O*Net is a more simplified but comprehensive resource for establishing a job classification.
With O*Net each job is given a code which your attorney will use on your actual Perm application form. US Immigration will also verify this O*Net code by comparing the requirements and grading level of the classification with your job offer to see if they match. Therefore, we must make sure they do so and that the results are satisfactory to all parties involved before the final application is completed.
The topics covered on O*Net are as follows: -
1. Tasks
2. Knowledge
3. Skills
4. Abilities
5. Work Activities
6. Work Context
7. Job Zone
8. Interest
9. Work Styles
10. Work Values
11. Related Occupations
12. Wages and Employment Link
13. Source of Additional Information
The Wages and Employment Link should also be used for establishing the prevailing wage for your job in the given state. Your attorney will use this same source as a component of your case and by doing some research. Also, you will be able to assist your attorney, especially if you can further refine your job classification and pay scale.
You will also note from your search of this resource that O*Net provides a useful SVP code.
Remember if your SVP scores are lower than would be hoped for, your attorney will be able to discuss the options with you to see if a better classification can be found that will result in a higher SVP if at all possible.
