The big attraction for aliens is their ability to receive a green card. A green card provides aliens with the right to live and work in the US permanently. The alien does not have to remain in the service of the employer indefinitely. In theory the alien can leave this employment in favor of another although this is rarely the case.
Most aliens will cover the employer’s attorney costs of going through the Permanent Employment Certification, work permit and green card process. The last thing the alien wants is for the employer to avoid hiring them because of these expenses.
