EB1 Green Card Success – Sofie’s Story NYC Fashion Designer
Successful EB1 Green Card Applicant - Fashioner Designer - Chris and his team are very hands on and reply to my phone calls or emails within the day. Throughout the whole process, if USCIS sent a document to me, usually I would know from Chris and his team before I'd even heard from USCIS. This was all very reassuring that I knew my lawyer was on top of my case and proactive.

I’m originally from the United Kingdom but moved to the states as a graduate to pursue my career in fashion design when I was offered a job working for Abercrombie and Fitch. I moved around various companies and ended up in New York City, where I now design for Michael Kors.
I was very aware as a graduate in the fashion world it wasn’t going to be easy finding work in the UK, which is very saturated with fashion design students. I was also aware that working in the US would not only be a huge life experience for me, but I could bring something unique to the table working for an American company.
I have made a lot of friends in the US and a lot of them are also from the UK. Chris had been very successful in working with a lot of my British friends in getting them their visas and EB1 green cards. My first consultation with Chris was great, he talked me through the process and after reviewing my case was confident I could successfully apply for my green card.
I ended up applying for the EB1 green card, which was great for me as I am a specialized designer (I am a handbag designer). This particular job roll involves a skill set which is very different to most fashion design positions. Also, there aren’t many of us out there compared to apparel designers! This was a big reason that I was able to apply for this.
The whole EB1 green card process was very smooth although a huge amount of work. Preparing all the documents and reference letters took a long time. The online server that Chris and his team created is amazing in helping you organize all your paperwork and easy to see what you are missing etc. I chose to Premium Process my case, which was very worthwhile. As soon as my application for my green card was submitted, I knew within two weeks if my petition had been successful.
Chris and his team are very hands on and reply to my phone calls or emails within the day. Throughout the whole process, if USCIS sent a document to me, usually I would know from Chris and his team before I’d even heard from USCIS. This was all very reassuring that I knew my lawyer was on top of my case and proactive.
I actually signed up for instant notification from the USCIS website, and when they sent me the email to my blackberry it was 10pm on a Thursday evening, I was sat in front of the TV in my pajamas! I was so happy to find this out though and my boyfriend and I actually had a celebratory glass of wine afterwards
I’m so happy to say I am a permanent resident of the US. My parents actually visit me more in NYC than they did when I lived in London! I love the diversity here and the opportunities that I have had in this country exceed by far those in the UK within my field. My quality of life here is excellent.
Get your degree or experience within the field you want to work in! My specialist field helped a lot in my job search here.
