EB1 Green Card - Winning an internationally recognized award during the course of your career can be life altering in more ways than might have been anticipated at the time. Being the recipient of such an award can trigger the issuance of an EB1 green card for life.

US Immigration have established the EB1 green card as being reserved for aliens who can show that they have risen to the very top of their profession. An objective way to determine that fact is whether the alien has won any internationally recognized awards. If this can be shown to the satisfaction of US Immigration then an EB1 green card could be yours for the taking.

EB1 green card qualifying awards exist in almost every field of endeavor.  The most obvious and most well known awards are in the area of Entertainment, such as an Oscar, Grammy, Tony, Emmy, SAG and the Golden Globes. Win one of these and there is very little stopping you from claiming your EB1 green card. Obviously, we have to gather all the evidence and this can be a creative process in itself, but as long as this process is done correctly getting the EB1 green card is almost all but assured.

There are also many EB1 qualifying awards in the area of the sciences. We’re not talking about who has the best PHD from the best University we have to go way beyond that.  We have to look at any academic award that has been granted on a national basis rather than being conferred by a single University. Examples would include MacAuthur Fellowship, Fields Medal, Bancroft Prize, Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize to name just a few. For EB1 green card purposes the idea is that the award is so prestigious that no matter which University the academic hailed from every university national and perhaps internationally would recognize the significance of the award within academic circles.    

It is very important to note that awards can be from any country in the world as every country has its own way of recognizing extraordinary talent. Many EB1 green cards are routinely granted for awards unheard of in the US, but with that alien’s country and amongst other countries the award is well known and recognized.
