E2 Visa – Christie Davis – Business Broker to Joe Dumic *

Christie Davis (christie@fcbb.com) works with First Choice Business Brokers as an agent (702 368 2500). Christie came to me because she was working with another client who happened to be very complimentary about the immigration services we had been providing them. What gave Joe a distinct advantage was that he already had a B2 tourist visa. B2 visas are very hard to get because the US Embassy do not like giving them to aliens who are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program.  When aliens have a B2 visa they can switch to any other visa they may qualify for including the E2. Therefore, having a B2 can enable us to work quickly since we can Premium Process the case within the US rather than the Embassy. There is one catch: when ever an alien obtains a new visa they entered the US with, when they leave the US they must report their new visa to the Embassy and the Embassy will re-stamp their passport.  For UK aliens this is a lot more complicated than is the process with other Embassy’s.  A special consultation to discuss the intricacies of this option is advised before considering transferring from a B2 visa to an E2 visa.
