Forty-four people from 23 different countries became new US citizens on Thursday (31MAY07) in a ceremony in Billings, Montana.

Judge Richard Anderson, a retired US Magistrate, presided over the naturalization ceremony. Colors were presented by members of the Marine Company D Anti-Terrorism Battalion, and the national anthem was sang by Kerry Gruizenga.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) representative Alan Puckett presented the candidates for citizenship while the oath of allegiance was administered by deputy clerk of court Heather McLean, and court deputy in charge Susan Nybo gave each citizen their certificate as well as a small American flag.

Anderson told the new citizens, “It’s a big day in your life. You worked hard to be where you are. Our country is better off than it was ten minutes ago.”
